Mardi Gras celebrations across the coast will cause some Fixed Route services to be interrupted at various dates and times. The following is a list of disruptions that will occur to our Fixed Routes only. All of our Demand Response services will operate a normal service. All Fixed Routes will operate on a Sunday time schedule on February 12, 2013. The management staff and employees of CTA wish all Gulf Coast residents a joyous and safe Mardi Gras holiday. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers.
Friday, 08 February
Ocean Springs
Ocean Springs Carnival Association 7:00 P.M. Downtown Ocean Springs will be inaccessible after 6:30 P.M.
When leaving Winn Dixie west bound at 6:27 PM, the Ocean Springs bus will bypass Government Street and Washington Avenue remaining on Highway 90. The regular route will resume at Washington Ave and Highway 90.
When departing Biloxi Transit Center at 7:00 PM, the bus will bypass Government St and Washington Ave remaining on Highway 90. The normal route will resume at Big Lots.
When leaving Winn Dixie west bound at 7:57 PM, the Ocean Springs bus will bypass Government St and Washington Ave remaining on Highway 90. The regular route will resume at Washington Ave and Highway 90.
Saturday, 09 February
Gulfport
Krewe of Gemini Day Parade 2:00 PM The Gulfport Transit Center will be inaccessible between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Buses will use the Alternate transfer point in the parking lot at 23rd Ave and 22nd St for passenger transfers for all routes except the Beachcomber which will use the Jones Park Comfort Station as the alternate transfer point. A van shuttle will be provided to move passengers between the alternate transfer points as needed.
Sunday, 10 February
D’Iberville
North Bay Area Mardi Gras Association 1:30 PM: The D’Iberville Bus will be unable to service the entire D’Iberville route except for the Wal-Mart and Promenade areas between the hours of 12:15 PM and 3:15 PM. During this time the bus will remain on the I-110 and service only Wal-Mart and The Promenade.
Monday, 11 February
Biloxi
Biloxi’s Children’s Walking Parage 11:00 AM
When leaving the Biloxi Transit Center on the RED ROUTE at 10:45 AM, the Back Bay (Route 31x) bus will be unable to service Lameuse St. The bus will continue on Esters Blvd., turn right on Main St., proceed to Howard Ave., turn left on Howard Ave., and resume the normal route. Normal service will resume after that for both the RED and BLUE lines.
All Fixed Routes will operate on a Sunday time schedule on February 12, 2013.
Tuesday, 12 February – Mardi Gras Day
Biloxi
Gulf Coast Carnival Association: 1:00 PM
Krewe of Neptune 3:00PM
The Biloxi Transit Center will be inaccessible between the hours of 12:15 PM and 5:00 PM. During the time the alternate transfer point will be on Bayview Ave., under the I-110 overpass west of the IP Casino. All passenger transfers will occur there.
Tuesday, 12 February – Mardi Gras Day
Gulfport
Krewe of Gemini Night Parade 5:30 PM
Gulfport Transit Center will be inaccessible between 4:45 PM and 6:15 PM (end of service). Pass Road (Route 34xx) buses will use the alternate transfer point in the parking lot at 23rd Ave and 22nd St. for passenger loading and unloading and transfers to the Beachcomber which will use the Jones Park Comfort Station as the alternate transfer point. A van shuttle will be provided to move passengers between the alternate transfer points as needed.
