Coast Transit Authority (CTA) has finished the 30-day public comment period for a proposed fare change. After reviewing all comments and completing the impact analysis, it has been decided that CTA will increase the basic regular adult fare rate and half fare rate. This fare change will go into effect on Friday, November 3, 2023.
The fare change on November 3 will include the regular adult bus fare going from $1.50 to $1.75. The half fares (Senior citizens, Medicare, Disabled) are also going from $0.75 to $0.85. This will not increase any other fares or any daily, 3-day, or 31-day passes or the ADA/Paratransit rates.
The proposed fare rate increase arises from the inflationary cost of conducting business. Decisions regarding the fare increase were made in consideration of feedback from the public, alongside other operational needs. The minimal adjustment was made to bus fares. Riders are encouraged to purchase unlimited passes (Daily, 3-Day, or 31-Day) and to get a CTA ID card if applicable for other discounts.
CTA thanks the public for their continued support and for helping CTA serve the community better.
