CTA has activated its Pandemic Influenza Plan

Press Release – March 9, 2020

Subject: CTA has activated its Pandemic Influenza Plan in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Coast Transit Authority has been in contact with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Harrison County Emergency Management Agency, and the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) in regards to preparation for the spread of the Coronavirus.

CTA has taken additional steps to protect the health and safety of customers and employees as public health officials monitor the situation. Although the risk for Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains low in Mississippi, we are taking steps to protect the health and safety of our customers and our employees by expanding disinfecting and sanitation measures.

Precautionary measures CTA has taken to prevent spread of COVID-19 include:

  • Sanitizer dispensers installed at the transit facilities and on-board buses
  • Sanitizing the transit facilities including door handles, ticket vending machines, ATM machines, and other surfaces
  • Sanitizing the buses daily in addition to the normal daily cleaning
  • Communicating with experts about preparedness and monitoring the spread of the virus

CTA will continue to monitor Coronavirus developments and take appropriate action in consultation with public health authorities.
