CTA Improves Gulfport Route 37

Press Release – February 2, 2017

Subject:  CTA  Improves Gulfport Route 37 with Hybrid Electric Bus

On Monday, February 6, 2017, Coast Transit Authority will improve its Gulfport Route 37 by replacing the current bus with a 29-foot Clean Air Hybrid Electric bus.  “We’re seeing a steady increase in ridership on this route and with the larger bus, we will be able to meet the demand and accommodate our riders during peak travel times,” said Kevin Coggin, Executive Director.

Route 37 starts at the Gulfport Transit Center and travels north on Highway 49 to such service areas such as the Crossroads Shopping Center, Garden Park Hospital and the Grocery Depot on Dedeaux Road.

The Hybrid Electric bus utilizes the latest technology to operate efficiently and protect the environment. It will also provide a savings of around 20 percent in overall fuel cost, and require far less maintenance down the road.
