Coast Transit Authority (CTA) is debuting new bus stop signs across the Gulf Coast as part of a broader effort to modernize its system and improve rider experience. Prompted by the end of CTA’s hail system, the updated signage introduces color-coded routes, coastal animal mascots, and—for the first time—Stop IDs. Riders can reference their Stop ID when calling dispatch to easily identify their location and obtain next bus arrival.

The first route to receive the new look is Pass Road, Route 34, now visible by its Pink background and Crawfish illustration. CTA will continue rolling out the refreshed signage line by line, making its presence clearer and more consistent across the Coast.

Executive Director Ninette Barrios championed the redesign as part of a larger push to refresh CTA’s identity and bring modern, rider-friendly features to the system. Upcoming updates include new maps, cashless payment options, and a digital trip planner.

CTA partnered with Christie Fountain Advertising, an Ocean Spring-based design firm, to create signage that’s both functional and full of coastal character.
