Press Release – 2018 Try Transit Day

Press Release
June 7, 2018

Subject: 2018 Try Transit Day

In lieu of the National Dump the Pump Day, Coast Transit Authority will be hosting TRY TRANSIT DAY on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Ride free all day on any fixed route bus and experience cost effective transit options using public transportation.

Sponsored by the American Public Transit Association (APTA), the 2018 National Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation and save money, instead of driving a car. And to help spread the word to visitors and locals across the Gulf Coast, CTA is inviting everyone to “Try Transit” FREE of charge on Thursday, June 21 and see how public transportation works hand-in-hand in supporting economic development and growth.

Started in June 2006 when gas prices were $3 per gallon, this national day emphasizes that public transportation is a convenient travel option that also helps people save money. According to the April APTA Transit Savings Report, individuals in a two-person household can save an average of more than $10,063 annually by downsizing to one car.

Plus, the CTA management staff will be on hand at the Biloxi and Gulfport Transit Center, from 8am – 10am, to share information on the many transit services CTA provides. Join CTA for Try Transit Day on Thursday, June 21 and ride free all day on CTA.
