Coast Transit Authority (CTA) Tram and Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge

CTA Gulfport Transit Center to Jones Park, Downtown Gulfport

Document Review Period: January 8 – January 29, 2017

The Coast Transit Authority (CTA), working with the City of Gulfport and Federal Transit Administration (FTA), propose to construct a tram/pedestrian/bicycle bridge, approximately 1,100 feet long, extending southeast from 15th Street to 21st Avenue in Jones Park, over Beach Boulevard (US 90). This project is part of the general development of enhanced transit passenger facilities in Downtown Gulfport, as outlined in the transit development plan and transportation improvement program. When complete, this project will connect Jones Park and the proposed CTA Gulfport Transit Center terminal, consisting of the current facility located at the corner of 15th Street and 21st Avenue and a proposed expansion of this facility into the adjacent building formerly housing the Harrison County Library, Downtown Gulfport branch. The purpose of this notice is to inform the community that FTA intends to make a de minimis impact determination pursuant to Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act (49 U.S.C. § 303 and 23 U.S.C. § 138)” on the former library site and park properties.

As part of public involvement activities associated with this project, and in keeping with the adopted public participation plan, CTA will make the documentation for the project’s categorical exclusion, including the Section 4(f) evaluation available for public view and comment for the duration of the identified review period.
